MyIPO had successfully co-organized the Workshop on Best Practices in IP Enforcement together with the USPTO Regional Intellectual Property Attache for Southeast Asia. The two-day workshop provides a platform to learn and share the best practices of IPR enforcement in the United States that could be modelled upon and adapted into local practices.

YBhg. Dato’ Shamsiah Kamaruddin, Director General of MyIPO, in her opening speech said that Malaysia aims to provide for border measures which are in line with Sections 4 and 5 of Part III of the TRIPS Agreement by providing for better border measures provisions where more remedies and relief can be obtained through civil and criminal system.

The workshop was participated by representatives from Royal Malaysia Police, Royal Malaysian Customs Department, Law Drafters from Attorney General’s Chamber, Enforcement Officer from Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK), Federal Councils from the International Affairs Division of the Attorney General’s Chambers and Prosecutors from both KPDNKK and Customs.
