The ASEAN Working Group on IP Cooperation (AWGIPC) had embarked on a Mid Term Review (MTR) of the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016-2025 to ensure that the Action Plan remains current and relevant, to assess its usefulness and adaptability in the context of current developments in the region and to also reflect the progress achieved by the AWGIPC to date.

The MTR of the AIPRAP took place between July to December 2020 through an online survey which was participated by all ten (10) ASEAN Member States. The outcomes of the survey resulted in re-prioritization efforts and gave rise to the AIPRAP v2.0 which saw the addition of new deliverables, the dropping of some as well as amendments to the existing ones. The overall outcomes of the MTR were presented to the Senior Economic Officials Meeting (SEOM) in January 2021 and were subsequently endorsed.

On the whole, ASEAN has made progress in the first five (5) years (2016-2020) of the AIPRAP implementation. As of March 2021, 18% of deliverables out of a total of 56 are already completed, 64% are still ongoing and 18% not yet started. In the implementation of the remaining deliverables under AIPRAP v2.0, the AWGIPC, with the support of AMS and the ASEAN Secretariat, will be working very closely with the various supporting Dialogue Partners (DPs) to ensure the timely and efficient completion of the deliverables within the next remaining five (5) years.

The final and updated list of deliverables under the ASEAN IPR Action Plan 2016-2025 (v2.0) is presented in the following link. For any inquiries, please contact [email protected].
